For this debut, GT spent almost a year in preparation to showcase its cutting-edge technology in Projected Capacitive Touch (#PCAP), which was thoughtfully designed and developed for the #retail industry. Thus, its Elite Series was launched in NRF 2021.

Traditional touch displays have always faced a minor annoyance due to the thick cover glass, and the air gap between the cover glass and the LCD panel (air-bonding). Users could sense a displacement between the touch point and the image being touched which is known as parallax. In cases which require touch accuracy, users would make compensation in operating touchscreens to avoid touch errors. This annoyance can be demonstrated when we try to pick up a pin submerged in a bowl of water where the pin seems to be shallower than it is due to light refraction.

The Elite Series is optically bonded. The gap between the LCD panel and the touchscreen is merely a millimeter or more. Users can now operate these touch displays virtually without any parallax. There is no longer any need to make compensation to avoid touch errors. Since the optical awkwardness has been eradicated, there is no more annoyance. In addition, the ugly thick black borders hiding the circuitry behind the touch glass has been minimized to 12mm or so with the Elite Series ultra-narrow-border. Hence, together with optical-bonding, the whole touch display looks brighter, crispier and larger, enhancing the aesthetics and user experience. It was no surprise that GT’s exhibits drew quite an attraction with numerous requests for samples.
